The Ribbon IDE - a leaner, modern UI for Eclipse
Here's a short video about integrating the Hexapixel Ribbon widget into Eclipse. I'm working on this over the holidays. It will be available for free under EPL.
If you like this, please vote for my EclipseCon submission.

Nice one! Wanted to use the Widget myself and make it extensible using the menuContributions extension point. But when Microsoft posted the license for this piece of widget I stopped working on that. Have you reviewed the license yourself?
Great work! Finally eclipse with a ribbon. I didn't know it would look so good.
I won't be able to attend the conference, but you have my vote. It would be great to read a paper on how you did it (or a series of blog articles ;-) ).
Is this e4 platform or is it 3.5/3.6?
Is the source code available somewhere?
I have found github repo on eclipsecon web.
Are you sure about this?Ribbon widget had some IP issues, just like any other ribbon implementation (since microsoft owns it). I think Emil (author) even said he'd stopped development of it.
Nice one! I tried to put menuContributions support to this ribbon control too in summer. But I gave up after I read the MS license for using this control. I think the original author of the SWT control also suspended the development due to the MS license agreement.
Have you taken a look at it already?
I would also like the control to be usable from within Eclipse RCP apps. Keep us updated on the progress!
I am not a fan of 'The Ribbon', but in the case of eclipse, it could replace perspectives nicely! I think that this could work well, on any platform in e4 and I think you should propose it for inclusion.
Excellent!

I find 'The Ribbon' more of an annoyance than convenience. For the new MS office I use a plugin to get the old menu system.May be because I am so used to the old way, but I would expect a preference to switch between the two if it was ever introduced in eclipse (default being the old way).
